Designing and executing the Wild Fish Exhibition in Northern Norway for Kystens Hus was an incredibly rewarding experience for me as a Creative Director. The project centered around the unique species of wild fish from Norway, aimed to educate and engage school-goers, and ultimately promote seafood consumption among younger audiences.
One of the most exciting aspects was the centerpiece—a wall featuring the main species of wild fish, brought to life with dynamic visuals from two projectors. The right side included an interactive, touch-screen quiz to spark curiosity, while the left side projected animations to captivate visitors. In front of the fish wall, metal frames displayed vibrant posters of creatures like crabs and pufferfish, creating a visually rich environment.
A real highlight for me was the attention to tactile and interactive elements, such as the backlit tables showcasing whale skin samples and fish eggs in glass jars, complete with informative vinyl text. An old echo sensor on the wall stood as a historic nod to Norway’s fishing industry, paired with a touch-screen timeline that explored years of Norwegian maritime history—offering visitors a time-traveling experience through the country’s fishing heritage.
The corridor leading to the exhibit featured a video wall promoting ocean sustainability, encouraging visitors to pen their ideas. This space for reflection and interaction made the project even more meaningful. The blend of digital experiences, historical insights, and hands-on learning fostered a deeper connection between visitors and Norway’s rich maritime legacy.
It was a project that truly pushed the boundaries of exhibit design, combining modern technology with the natural world, and I’m proud to have been part of its creation.
